Nutrition: Providing a high-quality beef product to customers begins with superior genetics, but it is very important to manage and feed the cattle properly to take full advantage of the genetic potential of cattle. Our cattle are fed local feeds produced either on our own farm or within a 30-mile radius of our operation.

Calving: Following calving, the calves are raised on mothers’ milk, green grass, and supplemental minerals and vitamins until they reach approximately six months of age.  At that point, they are weaned from the cow and moved to our feeding operation.

Locally grown feed such as silage, alfalfa, cane hay, distillers grains are tested for their nutritional value, and rations are formulated by our consulting nutritionist to achieve the desired endpoints for the cattle.  A vitamin and mineral package is formulated to provide anything the locally grown feed does not provide.

Growing: For the next 120 days, the calves are fed a high roughage growing ration. The goal during this phase of their life is to grow the calf from about 650-700 lbs up to 950 lbs. During this time the calf is laying down muscle and adding to its frame.

Finishing: At the end of the growing phase, they are slowly stepped up to a high grain finishing ration. During this time, the cattle have completed the growing phase of their life and begin to lay down fat around and within the muscle.  They are fed this ration for about 150 days until they are ready to be processed at approximately 1350-1400 lbs. This period develops that high quality "corn fed" beef tenderness and flavor.
